Under the Head of the Department, which he/she is assigned, the incumbent is responsible for performing and reporting results on a variety of standardized laboratory tests in either: Haematology, Clinical Chemistry or Microbiology.
Responsibilities:
- Perform tests and report results.
- Perform and document related quality control.
- Confirm and verify abnormal results.
- Correlate and interpret data.
- Enhance the efficiency and accuracy of laboratory testing by maintaining adequate supplies, by keeping equipment in operational condition and by maintaining a clean and orderly work area.
- Assist in the preparation of monthly statistical report by keeping accurate records on all laboratory procedures performed.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Knowledge of the disciplines of Microbiology, Haematology, Chemistry and knowledge of standard laboratory techniques and procedures.
- Demonstrate professional conduct and interpersonal communication skills with both patients and health professionals.
Qualifications:
- Diploma/ Certificate or Bachelor of Science Degree in Medical Technology from an accredited college or university.
- At least 2 years professional experience in an clinical laboratory as a Medical Technologist.
